Week 1: Designer Research and Original Concept

The History of Chloe

1952
Chloé is founded by Gaby Aghion, an Egyptian-born Parisienne who decides to create soft, feminine, and bohemian garments that reject the stiff formality of 50’s fashion. The line is called “luxury prêt-à-porter” beautifully made clothes available off the rack, unique for the time. The name “Chloe” is chosen to reflect the new mood of Paris : youthful and modern in design and slightly audacious in spirit.

1956
Aghion and her business parter, Jacques Lenoir, debut their first collection for chloe at he cafe de Flore in Paris. They call it the antidote to the stuffy couture of the fifties.

1970s
After becoming the house’s Creative Director in 1966, Karl Lagerfeld creates some of the most iconic Chloe pieces, including his 1972 black-and-white graphic-print “Deco” collection. Brigitte Bardot and Grace Kelly are among those who breeze into the Parisian boutique in search of its romanticized womenswear.

In Andersson’s first collection for 2008, long, sleeveless blazers; knits; and leggings were layered with sheer textures to create a romantic and modest style for spring. The designer continues Chloe’s penchant for cool, quirky, and feminine pieces that are cutting-edge and timeless all at once.

Because  Chloe's colletions  is soft and  feminine, i am thinking to do some research about soft things, such as water, flowing hair.
